Audience Effects Theory

Audience Effects Theory

1) Write a definition of a passive audience:

This is the view that audiences passively take in information from the media and that these messages have the same effect on everyone.

2) Write a definition of an active audience:

This is the more modern and generally accepted view that audiences interact with and make conscious choices regarding the media they consume

3) Write a definition of the hypodermic needle theory:

This is the suggestion that audiences are always passive and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds. This assumes no individual difference in audience members.

4) Write down a media product for each category of Bumbler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications theory and WHY it fits that particular audience use/gratification:

INFORMATION/SURVEILLANCE:  To inform people about this.
 > Why:to inform if something is happening in their area or town/city.

IDENTITY:To show who made blue planet 2

to show people that he made this and too time to do this

DIVERSION/ENTERTAINMENT: Action movies will entertain people and make them want to watch this.
because now these days kids and some adults like to see violence and that is entertaining for them to see how the planet is made and is educational.

RELATIONSHIPS: To make people stop fishing and help the environment
because fishing is getting to many fish to get extincted and we will soon have no fish to eat and the ocean will be changed for ever.
